It’s only a few more days until our very first ‘Rock n Roll Party’ for animals and are we looking forward to it!

Rock night

The idea for such events came about through having staff and volunteers that are interested in living ‘vintage’ lifestyles and the realisation that real fur is creeping back in to fashion in vintage circles.

OneKind believes that by wearing fur items, regardless of how old they are, people are advertising a very cruel and needless industry. Cruel now and cruel 60 years ago. Animals and birds are suffering today to be sold at a ‘vintage fair’ in 15 years time.

By holding ‘vintage’ events, we can show people that you can buy, sell and wear clothes from all different eras without compromising animal welfare.

So let’s have a party!!!

We have booked a hall – Edinburgh’s Minto Hotel – with a big dance floor!

We have booked a fantastic Rootsy/Rock n Roll band The Accelerators. Based in Scotland with four CDs under their belt, the Accelerators have featured at festivals such as Americana International and the Rhythm Riot, shared stages with Buddy Holly’s Crickets and other original Rock n Roll stars and have supported artists such as Otis Grand and Matchbox.

We have booked dance teachers Ray and Nicky Doull of Rock Til U Drop jive club. Ray and Nicky have taken part in dance demos for STV, BBC Scotland, Glasgow City Council and countless charities. Ray will also provide DJ sets to keep the dance floor busy, we will also see some spectacular dance demos from them through the night.

We have some fabulous raffle prizes to give away. Some very generous donations have come from ‘retro’ clothing companies Bettie Page Clothing and Rocket Originals. We’ve had wine and champagne donated from lovely supporters Lyn Campbell and Fiona Ogg. And at the moment my office has a wonderful smell coming from a parcel from Lush!

We have people coming from Fife, Glasgow, Coldstream and as far away as Aberdeen!

Tickets are £15 each – this includes an optional dance lesson and a complimentary glass of Babycham. The doors open at 7pm (dance lesson 7.30-8.30). Book your tickets now - call 0131 225 6039

It’s going to be a FAB night of Rock n Roll music and dancing with all proceeds going to our campaigns to help animals. Of course, absolutely no fur or feathers will be flying!
