The chilly festive season is going to get a lot hotter when OneKind unveils its very own Santa's grotto at this year’s Girls’ Day Out event in Glasgow.
Swapping his white beard and big belly for bulging biceps and a six-pack, our OneKind Santa is bound to be a hit with the 15,000 women expected to attend Girls’ Day Out 2010. The event, being held at the Glasgow’s SECC from 5th-7th November is Scotland’s biggest health, lifestyle, fashion and beauty show.
However, there is a serious message behind the fun. Santa will be asking those attending to help make his ‘OneKind Wish’ come true – by supporting OneKind’s campaign to ensure that the proposed ban on cosmetics testing on animals comes into force across Europe by 2013.
The EU introduced a partial ban on cosmetics testing in Europe in 2004, with a complete ban on the testing of products and ingredients from March 2009. The sale of all animal-tested products (coming from outside Europe) was scheduled to be banned from 2013 - but there is now concern that this deadline will slip or be delayed. OneKind’s intention is to keep pressure on the European Commission to implement a full ban on the marketing of animal-tested products, as well as the testing itself.
A range of animal-friendly beauty products will also be on sale at the OneKind grotto, to show that you can stay beautiful without harming animals, and those attending will also have the chance to make a small donation to the campaign.
The OneKind Santa’s grotto is open from 10.30am – 4.30pm at stand A26 at ‘Girls’ Day Out’ in Hall 3 of the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), from Friday November 5th to Sunday November 7th.
