Volunteer Film Maker

From the decade-long battle to end the killing of Scotland’s seals to exposing the use of inhumane traps across the Scottish countryside, OneKind has no shortage of stories to tell. But we need storytellers to help us tell them online. Can you help?

We’re looking for a passionate and talented film maker to make compelling and powerful video content in support of our campaigns. Our needs are diverse and we are flexible, so we will work with you to develop project briefs that best match your skills and interests. For example, you could make a short and shareable piece that aims to inspire people to support our campaign to end mountain hare culling in the Cairngorms National Park, or a documentary-style short that explores the impact of snaring through interviews with victims.

This is a new position which is ideal for someone with a real passion for animals and film making. It's a fantastic opportunity to help give a voice to Scotland’s animals, and it will give you the opportunity to showcase your work and build a portfolio.

The role will include developing and agreeing storyboards, filming, and editing film and graphics into final videos suitable for distribution on social media platforms. You will work to clearly defined project briefs agreed with OneKind that meet both of our needs and specifications.

Person Specification:

  • Filming and video editing skills
  • Creative and passionate about the OneKind cause
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to meet deadlines

This role is freelance volunteer role on a project to project basis. Ideally you would be able to come into the OneKind office for meetings, but you can work from home on the individual projects. We are a very small charity and are unable to pay a salary, but we can reimburse expenses.

Please send your CV and, if possible, examples of your work to Sarah.Moyes@onekind.org. Successful applicants will then be invited for an informal interview at our offices in Edinburgh. There is no deadline – we will continue advertising until the role is filled.
