Campaigns Intern (voluntary)
We’re looking for an energetic, passionate campaigner to help develop and deliver effective and innovative campaigns. This is a great opportunity to have an impact on the lives of animals whilst developing vital experience in campaigns and advocacy and learning more about animal protection and the political process in Scotland.
Key campaigns that you will get the opportunity to contribute to include:
- A real fox hunting ban
- Mountain hare care
- An end to puppy farming and dealing
Activities will include:
- Contributing to campaign planning, scoping proposed campaign activities and delivering set-pieces such an event or campaign action.
- Researching and writing campaign material such as leaflets, online content, supporter emails, etc.
- Social media campaign planning and delivery.
- Attending events and representing OneKind and our campaigns to the public.
You will also participate in the everyday activities of the OneKind team. This might involve, for example, participating in team meetings, representing OneKind at events, helping our fundraising efforts, and providing occasional administrative support.
Essential skills/experience needed:
- Graduate and/or relevant voluntary or paid experience
- Energy and passion for our cause
- An enthusiasm for and understanding of campaigning
- Good written and oral communication skills
This role is based at the OneKind office in central Edinburgh. Ideally you would work in the OneKind office for normal working hours (9-5) for at least two days a week, however we are happy to consider alternative arrangements for the right candidate. We look for a minimum commitment from volunteers of 3 months.
You will get invaluable experience for your CV, a chance to make a real difference to the lives of animals, and an insight into working for a campaigning charity. Your manager will provide you with training, career advice and a reference if needed. We are a very small charity and are unable to pay a salary, but we can reimburse travel costs for your commute.
