Membership
OneKind’s membership scheme is vital to realising our vision of ending cruelty to Scotland’s animals. It aims to grow our voice for animals, bring our supporters closer to our work, and provide our campaigns with a dependable and regular funding stream.
As a member you will receive the OneKind magazine three times a year, be invited to exclusive events such as our annual members meeting, which will start in 2017, and be given the opportunity to have your say on our work and priorities. We encourage membership by direct debit as this keeps cost to a minimum but if you would prefer to pay annually please get in touch on 0131 661 9734. We take our members views very seriously and as well as seeking them through regular communications we would love to hear from you at any time on our campaigns or any animal issue that you care about in Scotland.
Members do not have formal voting rights and are in effect ‘supporters’ as defined in OneKind’s Articles of Association. This means that whilst members have many opportunities to input into our work they do not have formal powers to set OneKind’s agenda or approve our finances, for example.
We launched our membership scheme in May 2016 and aim to have 1000 members within our first year. Please join us and be part of an extraordinary movement that is protecting animals throughout Scotland.
Our promise to you
OneKind is people-powered. Our campaigns, investigations and lobbying to protect animals are only possible because we have members behind us, funding our work and giving animals a voice. That means our members mean everything to us – and to the animals we seek to protect. In return for your support, we promise to be:
- Efficient - 93 pence in every pound donated to OneKind goes straight to our campaigns, investigations and education work to protect animals. The remaining 7 pence is what we need to keep OneKind running.
- Fair - We pay fair salaries. Our work is possible because we employ a small team of brilliant campaigners and communicators. No one is paid less than the living wage and our Director is our highest paid member of staff at under £45,000.
- Effective - Your support will save animals. We have a proven track record extending back many decades, which means that you can be confident that we will turn your support into campaigns, education and research that reveals and puts an end to cruelty. Forever.
